PMS Pantone Colors for Enamel Pins
PMS, short for Pantone Matching System, is a standardized color reference used by many enamel pin factories. Instead of saying “bright red,” you can specify a Pantone Solid Coated code so the manufacturer knows the target color.
Why PMS matters
Screen colors vary by monitor. PMS codes give factories a shared target for enamel fills, backing cards, and printed details.
Common format
A code such as 186 C means Pantone 186 Solid Coated. The C suffix is common for coated color references.
Practical limits
Enamel may not match a digital color perfectly. Ask your factory for close matches and review physical samples before a large run.
Choosing colors
Limit most pin designs to five to seven main colors. Fewer colors often lower cost and improve readability.
